We have chartered boats in Croatia and Greece before and this sat comfortably alongside both of those. The kayaking through the lagoon was genuinely unlike anything we had done — the water inside was a different colour entirely from the sea outside. Lunch was unexpectedly good. The crew gave us space when we wanted it and were there when we needed something. Would go again with the multi-day option next time.

I spent four days on the Northern Andaman Passage with a colleague. The Surin Islands segment was the highlight — we anchored in a bay that had no other vessels in it at all. The captain made decisions about route and timing that showed real knowledge of the area, not just GPS following. The cabin was comfortable and the meals were better than I expected on a boat this size. One detail I appreciated: all waste came back with us.

We took our parents on the morning sail — my mother is not confident on boats and we were not sure how she would find it. The crew noticed this without being told and kept the pace calm throughout. Breakfast was lovely. The reef stop was brief but she got in the water for the first time in years and seemed genuinely happy about it. My only comment is that four hours goes quickly — we would have liked a bit longer at the reef.

I came to Phuket on my own and booked this as a solo traveller. The crew made me feel entirely welcome rather than an afterthought. The limestone formations are something that photographs do not prepare you for — the scale of them from the water is quite something. The food was genuinely Thai and genuinely good. I did not feel like I was on a tourist operation at any point during the day.

The morning sail was exactly what we needed mid-holiday. We had done a lot of activity-heavy days and this was a welcome change in pace. Coffee and breakfast at sea, a snorkel in clear water, back by noon — simple and very well run. The marina departure made a real difference to the overall feel of the experience. No fuss, no waiting, just aboard and away.

Three days on the northern passage. I came primarily for the photography and the Surin Islands delivered more than I expected — the light at dawn with no other boats around is extraordinary. The captain understood what I was trying to do without a long explanation and positioned the vessel well for the shots I wanted. The cabin had good climate control which mattered in the midday heat. Happy to recommend this programme to anyone who wants to see that part of Thailand properly.
Three Journeys in Detail
First Time on the Water
A family of five including elderly grandparents with no previous sailing experience. Some anxiety about sea conditions.
Calm route through sheltered eastern waters. Crew briefed on guest profile before departure. Pace kept gentle throughout.
All five guests completed the reef snorkel — including the eldest at 74. The family rebooked for a Hong Islands day trip the following week.
The Lagoon Experience
A group of four wanting something distinct from the standard Phang Nga Bay speedboat tours they had seen advertised everywhere.
Hong Islands Day Charter with kayak excursion inside the enclosed lagoon. Lunch anchorage chosen for seclusion rather than convenience.
The group spent over an hour inside the lagoon. Three members of the group described it as their single best day during a two-week holiday in Thailand.
Off the Map
A couple returning to Phuket for their third trip who had already done the standard island charters and wanted something genuinely new.
Five-day Northern Andaman Passage. Route planned around Koh Phra Thong and remote Similan-area coastline with no fixed schedule.
They described spending two nights at anchor in complete isolation as unlike any previous travel experience. Enquired about a return booking before disembarking.
